PRO WORKSHOP: Managing Blockchain Networks with Microservices and Microgateways
Blockchain technologies typically expose their capabilities through a series of APIs. Web3.js, Node.js, REST, and other approaches are used to provide external applications with access to the blockchain. However, one cannot simply open these low-level APIs to everyone – the APIs often need to be wrapped with microservices and microgateways to provide controlled access and management. Join this session to see how microservices and API microgateways can be used with blockchain technology to provide these capabilities in the enterprise.

WORKSHOP: Regtech - Legally Compliant Blockchain Development
The rise of distributed ledger technology, principally that of the blockchain, has seen the start of a boom the likes of which was last witnessed during the .com revolution. Developers, ever so in high demand, have found themselves in the epicenter of the blockchain revolution, especially those with a sound knowledge of cryptography. However, caution needs to be exercised during this modern day gold rush, and due to the high level of responsibility undertaken by blockchain developers, the necessary precautions need to be taken.

In this session, the speaker will:
  • explore the responsibilities of blockchain developers when undertaking related projects;
  • the legal standing of Initial Coin Offerings (ICOs), both in the U.S. and elsewhere;
  • provide advice on how to best undertake development-related roles;
  • list the checks which should be made before accepting a development role so as to ensure that the project is legitimate; and
  • the possible risks involved if one does not take the necessary precautions.
It is a well-known legal principle that ignorance of the law is no excuse, and with such high stakes in this emerging market, it is always wise to be fully informed and protected against any possible mishaps.

Accelerate Blockchain Applications Development with BPM
BPM-based application platforms can greatly simplify and enhance the development of applications on blockchain. BPM’s graphically based low-code development capabilities allow blockchain application developers to extract the complexity of blockchain and model it visually, so that it’s easier to quickly integrate applications with any public or private blockchain technology. @Bonitasoft we’ve built a few prototypes this year, and engaged with customers about building business solutions that leverage blockchain technology. Examples of these solutions: management of automobile orders using Chain.com and a document approval process using Stratumn blockchain technologies. In this talk we’ll discuss how we handle the complexity of integrating these solutions by leveraging the integration capabilities of a BPM-based application platform. We’ll also highlight the how to leverage a process-based approach to implement the business logic of the applications. This has a strong common point with blockchain’s concept of “always-forward” motion.

APPS (fully Autonomous Distributed Applications): The Next Phase in Software Development
Decentralized applications also known as Dapps, represent a paradigm shift in the way we view software models and are the next logical step in the evolution of technology. A Dapp is very similar to a traditional web application with one critical difference: instead of API connecting to a centralized Database, you have a Smart Contract connecting to a distributed ledger or blockchain. Unlike smart contracts, Dapps do not need to revolve around finance but can leverage distributed ledger technology for any purpose… including exchanging virtual online assets. Join WAX President, Malcolm CasSelle, as he explains his company’s plans to take full advantage of Dapps and their evolution to DAO (Distributed Autonomous Organizations).

OPEN TALK: Using the Friend Unifying Platform to Empower Developers
Does the Web need an Operating System?
Friend is a new operating environment that is being built into the internet itself using Blockchain technologies. It's a personal cloud computer - obtained through a url: link - where your files, apps, and services can reside. It can be accessed from a browser on any desktop (Windows, Mac, or Linux), from smartphones, tablets, etc. (iOS, Android), and through other technologies such as TV, AR/VR, and Voice. Completely open source, free and community sustained. And with a commercial license for the Enterprise.

FriendUP is an open source meta O/S that provides a device and platform independent computing workspace enabling rapid applications development and wide-scale deployment, and offering powerful new capabilities over today's user desktop and applications delivery. The Friend Unifying Platform also includes a network management component that enables client devices to share code and computing resources with other clients and decentralized servers. The Friend Network forms a ‘pool’ of shared nodes that may programmatically lend or borrow underutilized processing resources to/from other clients in the network, and pay or earn tokens. This concept brings the Airbnb and Uber sharing economy models to computing and collaboration.

As the preferred solution to enable Dapps to run anywhere on any device, Friend is positioned to become the default tool for application deployment in the Blockchain ecosystem.
