Several intersections in the Seattle area have been targeted for traffic gap analysis research. The goal was to determine the safety of gap acceptance through gap analysis using field devices. In the past, these devices were traditionally bulkier, required a power line, and had limited connectivity.

Our goal was to interface existing legacy equipment with AWS IoT in the cloud, in order to process, transform, enrich, and analyze the data. We also want to be able to process and enrich historical data that has been stored on the SD cards.
Ultimately, we want to explore how recently launched new services empower the user to make decisions based on data, rather than just dealing with raw values in a sea of data. We will explore the various data lakes that allow us to be successful.
