In JavaScript, functions are first-class objects. This means that functional programming constructs like function composition, and currying can be easily implemented and leveraged to write clean and readable code. Ramda is a utility library that provides the building blocks to write functional code in JavaScript. It provides a consistent API that supports functional programming core features: function composition, currying, and immutability. In this session, we will review Ramda’s core features and how we can leverage them to write code that is clean, efficient, and readable. Through real-world examples, we will discuss how this functional programming approach is a good fit when building applications in React, Redux, and Node. We will explore the challenges and advantages of using Ramda and how it compares with other popular libraries like lodash. We will finish the session by listing good practices and ‘gotchas’ when using the library.
