gRPC is a communication frameworks developed at Google for fast and efficient between entities in a distributed environment. Microservices can take advantage of this framework for container communications. Security is an essential element to all communication framework. This presentation introduces the different built-in authentication systems in gRPC and to provide a live demo implementing this in Python. This presentation will give a general overview on what gRPC is and some of its use cases. It will move on to described the different supported authentication mechanisms including digital certificate based TLS, token based OAuth2 and a plugin for other authentication method of choice. Moving on to show how to integrate these authentication methods using Python. Audiences will be able to understand the different built-in authentication methods in gRPC and will have the background and resources to implement security to their gRPC framework in their applications.
