At Pluralsight, we pride ourselves on our commitment to maintaining autonomy for our dev teams. We have arranged our architecture in a way that allows the teams to work with minimal dependency on other teams, but once the technical concerns addressed, what does it mean to work in an environment where a team is empowered to act independently? As managers in an autonomous environment, we must learn to relate both to the team and the broader organization, communicate relavant information and create an environment where the team feels empowered to make responsible informed choices.  Having worked as both a developer and a manager at Pluralsight, I will talk about the experiences I have had working in a self-directed environment and what leaders can do to create autonomy while maintaining alignment.
